Lydney u13’s 5 Cwmbran 45
Tough day at the office for the under 13’s. Playing a much bigger team the Lydney team struggled to get a foot hold in the game. The first five minutes was a tight affair with both sides trying to work out the other. Cwmbran made the first of their many trips over the whitewash, poor tackling from the Lydney team allowed them to score under the posts to give them a 7-0 lead. Another quick score followed to make it 12 -0. The Lydney boys tried hard to defend their line on numerous occasions but found it hard to stop their bigger and quicker opponents.
The Lydney boys kept playing and the last 15 minutes involved Lydney carried and running hard at Cwmbran In attack, they started to click and managed a score out wide by Fullback Will Butcher.
A hard day but positives can be taken from it. The boys never gave up. Won lots of turnovers up front and the last 15 proved we could not just live with them but started to out play them. With more training and practise we can get to their level.
