Lydney RFC Chairman 2026/27
Dave Beddis
Firstly, thank you. It is a genuine honour to be elected Chairman of this great rugby club.
I’m incredibly proud to accept this role, and I do so with a real appreciation for the history, tradition, and community that make this club what it is. Rugby clubs are built on more than results and league tables — they are built on commitment, friendships, volunteers, supporters, and the shared belief that being part of a team matters.
I want to thank my proposer and seconder Scott Crossman and Julian Davis, the outgoing committee members and everyone who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Too often, the real work happens long after the final whistle — organising fixtures, maintaining the facilities, coaching juniors, fundraising, washing kit, and making sure the club continues to thrive week after week. This club runs because people care deeply about it, and we owe them all our gratitude.
To the players — thank you for representing the club with pride and passion. Whether it’s the first team ,United, juniors, or social Xmas side, every person who pulls on the shirt contributes to our identity and spirit.
As Chairman, I don’t see this role as leading from the front alone, but working alongside all of you. My aim is simple: to help strengthen the club both on and off the pitch, support our coaches and volunteers, grow participation, and ensure this remains a place where people of all ages feel welcome.
We all know rugby teaches resilience, discipline, respect, and camaraderie — values that matter now more than ever. I want this club to continue being somewhere people are proud to belong to.
But genuinely, I’m excited for what lies ahead. There will be challenges, no doubt, but there is also enormous potential in this club. If we continue pulling together with the same spirit we show on the pitch, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.
Thank you again for your trust and support. I look forward to working with all of you in the seasons ahead.
