Lydney RFC – New Changing Facilities
Lydney rfc are pleased to announce that thanks to a grant from Gloucestershire County Council in their ‘Councillors Build Back Better Scheme’ they have received an award for £6000 which will enable the completion of a two-year project to build a new changing room facility writes Roger Pike. This new facility is primarily for use of girls’ and boys’ teams to be able to change in a separate and secure area with full washing and toilet facilities, thus comply with safeguarding rules for young people. The Club also hope to restart its senior ladies’ team so again this new area will be important for the future.
Councillor Alan Preest commented ‘its really important we continue to promote and support physical activities in the Forest area for our youth and young children; we are delighted to help Lydney RFC with this innovative project.’
Chairman Duncan Sleeman commented ‘we are delighted we can now complete this new facility thanks to the kind help and support of Alan Preest and Gloucestershire County Council. It has been two years in construction, we must also thank all the Club volunteers who have help build the facility and local businesses who donated numerous materials, doors, and windows. Historically for children to use our changing rooms has meant complete closure of all the changing area under child safety guidelines, this additional facility will now give us flexibility for multiple use by separate groups at the same time. Now we have this facility our plan is to encourage more young boys and girls to join us next season when we will try to arrange a group at most year levels.’
