Lydney RFC – Director of Rugby Announcement
Lydney RFC are delighted to announce Sam Arnott has agreed to continue in his Director of Rugby role for the 2024/5 season writes Roger Pike. Arnott is an extremely popular figure at Regentsholme with both Players and Supporters has a wealth of experience. Speaking with ‘Arnie’ recently its clear he sets exacting standards both on and off the field.
Arnott commented ‘It is with genuine honour and pride that the club has shown faith in myself and my team for us to continue our journey together into next season. This job really excites me, there is enormous potential to develop this group, they are a young, talented, and keen to learn. The key is to try and keep this group together, this has not always been the case historically and thus build on what has been a successful past couple of seasons for us.
This season we again have picked up many injuries, losing some of our more senior voices in the dressing room in the process. As a group we do not look for excuses, better to look for solutions. The young lads who have stepped up thus far have been excellent, and nothing has fazed them, so this only bodes well for the future. With the United and Colts teams both currently sat top of their individual tables, it shows that the culture and environment being created at the club is hopefully moving in the right direction, as one. All three sides face a huge end to the season with every game an important fixture.
Please keep supporting the boys as you always do, it makes a real difference and I thank every one of you. Your support for this club is unique and is what makes this club so special to be a part of. ‘
Chairman Duncan Sleeman commented ‘we are delighted Sam will continue in the role, it was vitally important we retained someone with so much experience and enthusiasm. We will do our best now to support Sam as he looks to build on the improvements and success already achieved, with his own unique style he is an immensely popular with players and supporters.’
