Lydney RFC announce new Coaching roles.
Lydney RFC are delighted to announce their Coaching set up for 2025/26 season writes Roger Pike. Sam Arnott a huge favourite at the Club continues in his role of Director of Rugby and has put together a new coaching team for the season in Regional 1 South West. Firstly, Lydney RFC thank Jarrard Hayler and Ashley Howells who have left the Club for the huge contribution they have made in their respective coaching roles. This season the coaching will be co-ordinated by Sam with the appointment of four Coaches, two forward based Coaches and two for the backs.
For the forwards we are delighted to announce Nick Selway will be joining as a player coach. ‘Salad’ as he is commonly known at Regentsholme played at Lydney before a very promising career took him to various clubs including Hartpury, London Scottish and a huge service with Jersey Reds. So, his 120kg will be a powerful addition when required in the Lydney pack. Also rejoining the coaching team and needs no introduction is Nick Bartlett who brings a wealth of experience as a former Lydney player and coach. Paul Morris and Brad Barnes will continue their partnership coaching the backs to complete an experienced coaching setup. All four are great favourites of the Supporters and are sure to get a big welcome as they start their roles when training commences in July.
The Bledisloe Club have three friendlies in August, visiting Cleeve on the 16th, followed by two home evening games, with Old Centurions visiting on 21st and the following Friday 29th Old Redcliffians are the visitors. The season starts in September with Devonport Services and Topsham (Exeter) being the sides to join from promotion and relegation, the fixtures will be released in next few weeks. It again looks an extraordinarily strong league with no easy games so keeping fortress Regentsholme will be important for a strong challenge.
