Many members will by now have heard of the very sad and untimely passing of former Chairman John Nelmes.
A larger than life character, always full of fun, John served his beloved Lydney RFC in a number of capacities, starting as a player in the 1970’s and early 1980’s, though joining the Committee and eventually serving as Chairman for a number of years.
Always a generous host and excellent tourist, many will remember fondly the 2011 trip to Canada and the chant of “Four more years” every time John got near the bar on an away game.
He will be sorely missed by all at the Club and the thoughts of all members will I’m sure be with Rachel and the wider family at this extremely sad time.

John Nelmes funeral for those wishing to attend will be on Thursday 20th October at 1430. This will be held at St Mary’s Church in Lydney, with a burial at the cemetery there and then the wake at Lydney rugby club.
We request that flowers are family only and any donations people wish to make in lieu of flowers can be given at the Church or via the funeral directors (Gordan Blake). Donations will be split between Cancer Research and Cots for Tots.
