I would like to thank admin for approving my membership. LRFC being my first club still brings back many happy memories. If it wasn’t for the club I would not have had the life that I’ve had. Ted Parfitt started it at school and then through the club which I then carried on through the Army. My first game for Lydney was while I was at school. One Saturday we had a school match versus Crypt in Gloucester, it was in the morning, when we got back I decided to stay on and watch Lydney play Oxford. I was standing on the touch line waiting for kick off when Ted came out, walked across to me and said George Bird our scrum half has missed the train (he lived in Penarth) can you play? You will be ok, the pack will look after you, just keep passing the ball. As a 16/17 year old you don’t say no to your school teacher, so play I did, we won and according to the press I did ok. And carried on being ok for the next 25 years.
