A great game for the Colts today against a strong Gloucester Barbarians side.
Lydney started the strongest, Jack Knight finished a well worked team try to get Lydney up and running.

Not having played for 7 weeks it was important that Lydney got a good start and didn’t allow the visitors to settle.
We needed the forwards to control the game and set the tone.
The Lydney pack did not disappoint!

Gloucester Barbarians pulled a try back just before half time to make it 15-5.
Half time arrived and the Lydney coaches made it clear that the first 10 minutes of the second half was very important..
With the visitors being a combination of Longlevens and Widden they always have a strong bench and good numbers…
They got the perfect start to the second half when the home side knocked on from the kick off.
Not long after this the hosts found themselves under the posts!

Lydney then stepped up, keeping the baba’s back in their half…
After good pressure the penalty was conceded by the visitors and Drew Roberts slotted the kick to give his team the 8 point advantage..

The baba’s couldn’t handle the rejuvenated Lydney side and struggled to gain any ground.
With less than 10mins to play Joe Hale finished off another great team try when Lydney worked the ball well through the hands after the pack created the gaps in the visitors defence.
Roberts added the extras to make it 25-10.
With minutes to play Lydney then got caught with an interception from the baba’s inside centre to get a consolation try and make the score line more presentable on their behalf.
A great effort by the lads and a result which should see them well for a challenge on topping the league come April…
